{"id":1,"date":"2020-04-18T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-18T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sailvirtual.com\/?p=1"},"modified":"2020-06-22T14:40:09","modified_gmt":"2020-06-22T14:40:09","slug":"hello-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sailvirtual.com\/?p=1","title":{"rendered":"Info for SL YC Officers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>THIS PAGE WAS UPDATED ON MAY 22, 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What are the SL yacht clubs doing?<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp; Our <a href=\"https:\/\/sailvirtual.com\/?page_id=168\"><strong>Events Page<\/strong><\/a> is crammed with the schedule for Summer Sailstice Day June 20!&nbsp; We&#8217;ve got races, cruises and dances that day.&nbsp; Plus a huge Boat Show running all week, and overnight camping for boaters that weekend!<\/p>\n<p>Here are some ways your Club can help make this a great day:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3><strong>Get your members to register!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<strong> Everyone<\/strong> should stop by our <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.secondlife.com\/secondlife\/Port%20Victoria%20Isle\/177\/155\/23\">SS in SL Headquarters<\/a> space and do three things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Join our <strong>Summer Sailstice in Second Life Group<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Register on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/summersailstice.com\/event\/summer-sailstice-second-life\">Summer Sailstice Website<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Grab their free <strong>Summer Sailstice in SL<\/strong> shirt!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Offer a boat ride!<\/strong>&nbsp; There may be RL sailor coming in at the last minute who have never sailed in SL before. Offer to take someone on a short cruise or a fast run around a race course.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Have a club cruise!<\/strong>&nbsp; Sail from your YC to another one (maybe one that&#8217;s having a party).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Take some pictures!<\/strong>&nbsp; There should be some great photos generated that day (including some folks shooting over their shoulder at their desks at home).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>What&#8217;s in it for my club?<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp; Because of so many people sheltering at home, Summer Sailstice offers an internationally-promoted event to a big, new audience.&nbsp; So for your club:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It should be a fun and different activity for your members.<\/li>\n<li>It could really attract some new people (who are already into sailing) into the SL sailing community.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s a great chance for RL sailors to get to know SL ones, and vice versa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Why is our event located in Progreso, Yucatan, Mexico?<\/strong><\/em>&nbsp; &nbsp;That&#8217;s where your organizer Dave Bloch (Dale Irata in SL) lives.&nbsp; The Google Map marker on our Sailstice page is our protected harbor.&nbsp; The photo below shows the actual 1893 Progreso lighthouse on the right, and the SL version built by RJK on the left.&nbsp; Our lighthouse operates every night, guiding ships to the most important port on the Yucatan Peninsula.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"464\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/sailvirtual.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/200519FaroProgresoMontage.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-269\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sailvirtual.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/200519FaroProgresoMontage.jpg 464w, https:\/\/sailvirtual.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/200519FaroProgresoMontage-174x300.jpg 174w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 464px) 100vw, 464px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THIS PAGE WAS UPDATED ON MAY 22, 2020 What are the SL yacht clubs doing?&nbsp; Our Events Page is crammed with the schedule for Summer Sailstice Day June 20!&nbsp; We&#8217;ve got races, cruises and dances that day.&nbsp; Plus a huge Boat Show running all week, and overnight camping for boaters that weekend!
